Slovakia experienced its hottest day this year on July 10, with first- and second-degree heat warnings issued in many regions. The highest temperature, 36.4 degrees Celsius, was recorded in Kuchyna, western Slovakia. In Blahova, a village in the district of Dunajska Streda, southern Slovakia, the temperature reached 36 degrees Celsius. Similar temperatures were observed at Bratislava airport. In some places, Monday's temperatures surpassed those of popular holiday destinations. The capital city was hotter than Hurghada, Egypt, in the afternoon. The heatwave is expected to continue, peaking over the weekend. Several employers have reduced working hours due to the high temperatures. It is important to stay hydrated and take regular breaks when working in high temperatures. Doctors recommend consuming at least three liters of water, mineral water, unsweetened drinks, or herbal teas daily. Lukewarm drinks are more refreshing than cold ones, and beverages like coffee, alcohol, and energy drinks do not contribute to the hydration regime.
