Industrial output in May 2023 dropped by 1.4 percent year-on-year, the Statistics Office has reported. After seasonal adjustments, industrial production increased by 2.5 percent month-on-month. The office noted in this regard that although industrial output continued to fall in May, the rate of decline was the slowest since October 2022. Despite the yearly drop, this key sector of the Slovak economy produced a volume that was almost 14 percent above the average performance in 2015. In a long-term comparison, this was one of the best May performances since 2016. As for the January-May period, industrial output declined by 2.8 percent year-on-year.
