Defence Minister names most important topics for Slovakia at upcoming NATO summit

For Slovakia, the most important topics at the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius will be strengthening the Alliance's ability to respond to a possible armed attack against one of its members, setting 2 percent of GDP for defence as a minimum and the relationship between Ukraine and NATO, said Defence Minister Martin Sklenar after the government session on Thursday.

According to him, any member country of the Alliance should be able to rely on NATO's ability to respond and defend it in the event of an armed attack. The summit will also focus on the situation in Ukraine and its future in relation to NATO. According to the minister, the summit should at the same time confirm a decision to create a rotating model of air defence within NATO, using all the capabilities that the member countries have in order to operate where the greatest threat arises.
