Swiss Minister of Justice and Police Élisabeth Baume-Schneider visited a humanitarian centre in Gabčíkovo in southern Slovakia on Thursday, meeting the Deputy Interior Minister Lubomir Sablica and Migration Office Director Jan Orlovsky. They discussed the current situation in connection with the ongoing war in Ukraine and the challenges with integration of Ukrainian refugees. The Swiss Minister praised the Slovak ministry for the steps Slovakia took in connection with the conflict in Ukraine.
The Humanitarian centre in Gabčíkovo currently shelters more than 700 refugees, cooperating with NGOs Unicef and Mareena.
