Some processes in the Envirofund will become faster and more efficient. This is the result of an amendment to the Environmental Fund Act signed by President Zuzana Caputova. It will be possible to finance catastrophic insect outbreaks and landslides as part of environmental emergencies.
The proponents of the amendment consider the efficient use of funds in the form of grants and loans as extremely important. The requirement to support the implementation of activities that affect a protected area comprising at least five municipalities will be removed from the law. The aim is not to limit applicants to a minimum number of municipalities, but to allow support for more eligible applicants.
The amendment introduces the possibility of a two-round submission and assessment of applications for support. The amendment is not intended to interfere with the original one-round application and evaluation process. In addition, the list of activities for which it will be possible to apply for support from the Environmental Fund will be published in December of the previous year.
