No money for energy crisis compensation

The government does not have the financial resources to compensate local governments for high energy prices. Prime Minister Ľudovít Ódor said this in connection with last week's negotiations with the Association of Towns and Municipalities of Slovakia (ZMOS). He said that they are currently considering how to waive the so-called COVID loans to municipalities worth more than €150 million.

Meetings with representatives of Slovakia's towns and municipalities will continue in two weeks' time. According to the prime minister, the municipalities understand the situation.  He pointed out that changes to various laws passed by parliament had led to a shortfall in budget revenues.
