A total of 24 political parties and one coalition want to vie for seats in Parliament in the snap general election due to take place in September. The submitted slates contain a total of 2,728 candidates. The definitive number of candidates and parties that will compete in the election will be known after July 12, when the State Commission for Elections and Supervision of Funding of Political Parties will decide on the registration of candidates as well as individual slates. The only coalition that wants to run in the election consists of the OLaNO, Christian Union and Za Ľudí parties. Not all parties assembled 150-member slates. The Karma party, for instance, has only 17 candidates on its slate, which is the fewest among all parties in the race.
