Police operation supporting railway security

The Slovak police launched a two-day operation called 'Active Shield' aimed at railway security on Thursday. The railway police and public-order police with service dogs will focus on tracks away from designated crossings as well as structures not open to the public. The officers will mainly patrol railway stations and focus on searching for people and objects, illegal immigration, illegal activities by passengers and railway employees and preventing theft. The operation has been organised by a network of organisations responsible for policing railways in EU-member states called RAILPOL.
