President Zuzana Caputova signed into law legislation on Tuesday that establishes a constitutional right to pay for goods and services in cash. However, businesses will still have the option to reject cash payments for "reasonable" reasons, as per an amending proposal approved by Parliament. The bill's submitters argue that the decision to pay in cash should be left to citizens, particularly in light of recent initiatives aimed at gradually limiting this right. The new legislation will come into effect on July 1.
