Swiss Re to create Slovak jobs

The Swiss company Swiss Re, in which U.S. billionaire Warren Buffett invested more than two billion euro to rescue its plummeting value after the global economic crash, looks set to employ a further 400 people in Slovakia, according to the Hospodárske Noviny business daily.

Company representatives are remaining tight-lipped on details, but Rolf Tanner of the communication department was quoted as saying “Growth in Slovakia is planned to continue”. Mr Tanner stressed that the reason for the expansion is a good business environment and the country’s skilled workforce. He added that Slovakia’s location was also a reason, being geographically close to some of the company’s key markets. Swiss Re has operated in Slovakia since 2007 as a re-insurance company, employing 800 people.
