State Secretary of the Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Peter Burian met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Palestine to Slovakia Abdelrahman Bsaiso on Tuesday, TASR learnt from the ministry press department on the same day. Burian and Bsaiso talked about the current developments in the Gaza Strip. Burian conveyed to the Ambassador the deep sorrow over the lost civilian lives.
During the meeting, both agreed that the crisis can be tackled successfully only through political dialogue. "I think that during the crisis everyone has realised that the problem in Gaza can't be resolved via a military solution”, stated Burian. He expressed his hope that the current ceasefire will provide an opportunity to restart the process of peace talks. The secretary and ambassador also paid attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, as well as to ways in which Slovakia can assist in this process.
