Pupil sentenced to 11 months for planned axe attack

A schoolboy who planned to attack classmates and teachers with an axe will spend 11 months in a juvenile detention centre. The court also ordered him to undergo in-patient psychiatric treatment. The 14-year-old has already spent eight months in prison and did not appeal the verdict. Although the prosecution can still appeal. The court found the juvenile defendant guilty of preparing premeditated murder, as he pleaded guilty during the trial. However, the court reduced his sentence in an exceptional manner, citing the fact that the boy had only planned the attack. The boy was arrested in October last year. According to the prosecution, he brought an axe to school with the intention of killing his peers and teachers, with one teacher preventing the attack during a break. Both the prosecutor and the boy refused to enter into a plea bargain.
