Defence Minister Martin Sklenar visited the Lest training centre in the Banska Bystrica region on Monday. He inspected new military equipment and soldiers who have come to Slovakia to serve as part of a NATO multinational battlegroup. Sklenar noted that such a multinational battlegroup in Slovakia makes a significant contribution to the defense of the country and the capabilities of the Slovak Armed Forces. According to Sklenar, given the current situation in Ukraine, this battlegroup will be used to defend the Slovak Republic if necessary. Approximately 1,100 soldiers from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, the US, and Slovenia are currently deployed in Lest.
