Mária Kolíková, former Justice Minister and MP for the Sloboda a Solidarita (Freedom and Solidarity) party, supports the convening of an extraordinary session to dismiss the head of parliament, Boris Kollár over the fight with his former partner. Kollár claimed that he does not defend violence against women, but puts the rights of children first. He reiterated that he would do the same thing again, if someone intended to hurt his child.
"As Boris Kollar's own statements show, he did not use defence, but attack. He was aggressive when no one was threatened in life or limb," said Kolíková. In her opinion, no reason to advocate violence can stand. She also stressed that she clearly does not accept any politician acting in the public space who advocates beating women.
Kolíková added that one cannot publicly advocate something like retaliation or a threat of future violence, especially when the "threat" in question is made by a clearly stronger man against a weaker woman. By publicly advocating situations in which beating a woman is also justified, Boris Kollár has, according to Kolíková, overstepped the limits of his public acceptability in politics.
Even if a special session is called, it is not certain that there will be 76 MPs who will vote in favour of his removal, as she said in her statement on Sunday. "Anyway, I support the motion and it needs to be tried,” said Kolíková.
