The Slovak Academy of Sciences celebrates its 70th anniversary

On the occasion of its 70th anniversary, the Slovak Academy of Sciences plans a presentation to the general public. The event will take place on Friday, 23 and Saturday, 24 June. The academy’s departments from all over Slovakia will present themselves in the centre of Bratislava at M. R. Štefánik Square.

Visitors have a chance to get an interactive insight into the world of science and to get to know the research topics and results of scientific teams. More than 50 stands with various exhibitions, activities and competitions await children and adults.

Pavol Šajgalík, President of the Slovak Academy of Sciences emphasised that they care about the people of this country seeing what they are really doing, because ultimately the majority of their budget comes from the taxpayer. He added that the academy needs to make science as accessible to the public as possible and this is one of the ways to do that.

According to a recent survey, the Slovak Academy of Sciences is the most trusted institution in Slovakia.
