Ipsos poll: Smer-SD on top, followed by Progresivne Slovensko

If a general election had been held in June, the Smer-SD party would have won with 18.9 percent of the vote, ahead of the non-parliamentary Progresivne Slovensko or Progressive Slovakia (PS) on 15.5 percent and another extra-parliamentary party, Hlas-SD or Voice-SD, on 14.8 percent. These are the results of a new poll conducted by the Ipsos agency for the Dennik N daily. Another five parties would have made it into parliament: the far-right Republika Party - 8.3 percent, Sme rodina or 'We are Family' and Sloboda a Solidarita or 'Freedom and Solidarity' parties - both 7.2 percent, OLANO - 6.4 percent and the extra-parliamentary KDH or Christian Democrats - 5.6 percent. The parties that wouldn't have reached the 5 percent threshold to enter parliament include the Slovenska narodna strana or Slovak National Party (SNS) - 4.3 percent, Demokrati or the Democrats - 4 percent, the ethnic Hungarian Alliance-Szovetseg - 3.1 percent, the far-right LSNS (1.9 percent), Za ludi or 'For the People' and Modri or 'Blues, Most-Hid' - 0.8 per cent, and the Madarske forum or Hungarian Forum - 0.5 per cent. The poll was conducted between 12 and 16 June among a sample of 1,001 respondents.
