If there was a threat that it would only be possible to form a coalition with Smer-SD and far right Republika, Hlas-SD definitely would not join such a coalition, said the party’s leader and former PM Peter Pellegrini. "With its attitude and call for withdrawal from NATO, Republika itself has decided that it could not be a natural partner for Hlas-SD," stated Pellegrini. He noted that Hlas-SD does not rule out only extremists from a possible post-election alliance, but also those parties that would like to legitimise them through cooperation. "Therefore, if Smer-SD longed for cooperation with Republika very much and if the only possible coalition was the one with Smer and Republika, Hlas-SD would not join such a coalition," he stressed.
