The Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV) is the most trusted Slovak institution, shows a survey carried out by Focus agency. It is trusted by 73.3 percent of respondents. Slovak universities also ranked high with 73.1 percent of respondents trusting them. "It is pleasing that despite an overall decrease of trust in Slovak institutions, people still think highly of the SAV and Slovak universities," said the head of the SAV's Sociological Institute Miloslav Bahna. The lowest levels of trust belong to the Slovak parliament with only 20.6 percent of respondents trusting it, the judicial system with 33 percent, and big corporations with 34.2 percent. According to SAV chairman Pavol Šajgalík, the institution annually has been ranking high in trustworthiness since 2016. "The high rank means that society values the SAV's outputs. In the future, the SAV could use its high reputation, for example, in the fight against hoaxes and unjustified claims," he added.
The survey compared 14 Slovak institutions and was carried out between May 24 - 31, 2023 on a sample of 1,012 respondents.
