Some 4,000 people applied to vote in the upcoming General election by mail from abroad in the first days since opening the system, said Interior Ministry spokesperson Zuzana Eliášová. The application can be filed in electronic or paper form. It must be delivered to the ministry by August 9 at the latest. "Voters who don't have a permanent residence in Slovakia can only vote by mail. The vote by mail is also intended for voters with permanent residence in Slovakia who will be staying abroad at the time of the general election," explained Eliášová. To submit an application, it is necessary to have a valid Slovak identity card or a valid Slovak passport. The snap general election will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023.
