There’s been shooting at the Slovak eastern border with Ukraine, over the weekend. The Saturday’s police intervention at the border resulted in the death of a Ukrainian human smuggler. Police had monitored the smuggler for a long time. He tried to smuggle five Vietnamese citizens to Slovakia.
This Ukrainian trafficker was considered to be one of the most dangerous, claims Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák. According to Kaliňák, the current crisis in Ukraine hasn’t caused an influx of immigrants from Ukraine at our borders so far, but can contribute to a more aggressive behaviour of traffickers. Moreover, these traffickers are better armed than before. The Minister believes that the police’s intervention at the border over the weekend will help calm the situation.
