The state owns dozens, maybe hundreds of abandoned buildings that are deteriorating and could help local authorities, as they could be turned into rental apartments, care homes, cultural or sports centres. MP and extra-parliamentary Voice-SD party vice-chair Richard Raši claimed. "A strong state takes care of people, a strong state supports local government and a strong state also takes care of its property," stated Raši. In the context he brought the example of the culture centre Kulturpark in Košice the East Slovakia. Former military barracks turned into Kulturpark 2013 when Košice was announced as European Capital of Culture.
