Premier: We're analysts and that’s not a weakness

The fact that the government is made up of analysts is not a weakness but a strength, Prime Minister Ludovit Odor declared in Parliament during the debate on the Government Manifesto on Tuesday.

Odor spoke in response to a speech made earlier by OLaNO leader Igor Matovic.

"I don't perceive the fact that we're analysts as our disadvantage, quite the contrary," claimed Odor and added that the government by experts sticks to facts.

Odor rejected claims that the new government hasn't put in any work during its first 30 days in office and pointed to, for instance, its review of projects to be financed under the Recovery Plan.

As for the public finances, Odor referred to evaluations by the European Commission, according to which Slovakia will have the highest deficit in public finances within the EU this year. "I'm not saying that this is the result of any single government. This is the cumulative result of what we have had here for the last 20 years," said Odor.

Regarding demands attached to OLaNO's potential support for the Government Manifesto, Odor stated that the demands that fly in the face of the cabinet's DNA cannot be embraced.
More to come in today’s topical issue.
