Slovenia is an important alliance ally for Slovakia, we can rely on, stated Slovak Defence Minister Martin Sklenar, who received Slovenian ambassador to Slovakia Stanislav Rascan on Tuesday, TASR was told by Maria Precner from the ministry's communications department.
At their meeting they assessed the countries' current bilateral cooperation and Sklenar also presented the priorities of the Defence Ministry and the Government in defence policy. They also focused on priorities in connection with the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius, evaluated the cooperation so far in the field of training and education, and also focused on the possibilities of intensifying cooperation in the defence industry.
"The meeting was an opportunity to assess the current security and political situation, in connection with which our priority is to boost national security, including through the NATO multinational combat unit operating in Slovakia. Meanwhile, continued assistance to war-torn Ukraine is key for us as well. Also in connection with these topics, we see Slovenia as an important long-term ally we can rely on," said Sklenar.
