The Slovak Towns and Villages Association (ZMOS) plans to present its 11 demands to the relevant political parties in June. The association then intends to sign a memorandum with them on their implementation, should they reach the government or parliament. This is what ZMOS leader Jozef Bozik said after Monday's meeting with the extra-parliamentary KDH, which is interested in the June meeting. "ZMOS has an ambition to sign a memorandum with demands that the parties will promote, if they make it to Parliament or the government, with an eye towards meeting the legitimate demands raised by the people," said Bozik.
Talks with political parties are slated to take place on June 26. The eleven demands concern several fields, drafted, for instance, in response to the closing of pediatric emergency departments and maternity units, the shortage of outpatient departments and the education and stabilisation of doctors and nurses. KDH declared that it cares about seeing every region in the country developed equally and added that reforms should be calibrated based on data from the regions instead of mathematical calculations.
Earlier on Monday, ZMOS also held talks with representatives of the SaS party and discussed education sector issues. ZMOS wants, for example, the preservation of financing for preschools. Also broached at the talks was the effort to do away with segregation, the digitisation of schools and furnishing them with gymnasiums.
