At its session on Monday, the caretaker government approved the proposal to ratify the Agreement on Common Aviation Area between the European Union, its member states and Ukraine. The aim of the agreement, which has been under negotiation since 2013, is the gradual creation of a common aviation area between the EU and Ukraine with the aim of ensuring equal rules in the areas of safety, air traffic management, environment and consumer protection. The agreement also includes the mutual granting of overflight rights without landing over each other's territory. The Common Aviation Area is based on free access to the air transport market and equal competition rules. It will make it possible to create fair conditions of competition for all airlines. In general, the aviation markets of the EU and Ukraine could be gradually interconnected and expanded to a large extent, the Ministry of Transport said in the proposal. The government recommends that the agreement be approved by Parliament and then ratified by the President.
