Presidents of B9 countries meet in Bratislava to discuss security issues

The presidents of the Bucharest Nine (B9) countries met for a summit in Bratislava on Tuesday. Their discussions focused on a range of regional security issues and the impact of Russia's invasion of Ukraine on Central Europe, President Zuzana Caputova said on Facebook, adding that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also attended the meeting. "The leaders of the Bucharest Nine have been meeting regularly since 2015 to coordinate their positions ahead of NATO summits. At my invitation, the presidents of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Romania came to Bratislava," the president wrote.  Meanwhile, Caputova received Jens Stoltenberg at the presidential palace before the start of the summit. Acting Prime Minister Ludovit Odor is expected to meet the NATO chief in the afternoon. The summit took place at the Bratislava Castle. The B9 group was created on the initiative of the presidents of Poland and Romania, and the first meeting of its leaders took place in Bucharest.
