Mountain rescuers had their hands full on Wednesday, 30 July, mounting five rescue operations, some of which were complicated by strong winds and required the deployment of a helicopter. Before noon, aid was provided to a 65-year-old female, who injured her ankle in Demänovská Dolina valley (Žilina region) while picking mushrooms and had to be airlifted to hospital.
Around noon, help was despatched to Donovaly (Banska Bystrica region), where a 21-year-old man suffered a deep laceration on his arm during a ride in Bikepark. At the same time, a Polish mountain climber fell off Siroka Veza peak in the High Tatras mountain range and was airlifted to hospital with head injuries and a serious leg fracture. The afternoon brought no lull for rescuers, as a group of four Lithuanians asked for help after one of their tourists slipped on a mountain path in the High Tatra Mountain range and injured her leg.
