Milka Zimkova, actress, writer, screenwriter and leading lady of a one-woman theatre in Slovakia, died in Bratislava on Tuesday (May 30) at the age of 71, her daughter Milina Zimkova has confirmed for TASR.
Zimkova became popular for playing the main character in the cult Slovak movie 'Pasla kone na betone' (She Grazed Horses on Concrete) in 1980. The movie, which takes place in Zimkova's native region, was based on her debut book bearing the same name.
Zimkova appeared in many movies. She found an important source of inspiration for her work in her native region. She received many awards for her acting and writing, including the Main Prize of the International Jury at the 40th One-Person Theatre Festival in the Polish city of Wroclaw.
