Globsec forum starts in Bratislava on Monday

For three days Bratislava will become the centre of events, at least in Europe, wrote the SME daily commenting the eighteenth Globsec or the Global Security Forum taking place from May 29 to 31. The schedule of the Forum includes dozens of discussions with the aim to look for ways to prevent global instability - the motto of this year's conference suggests.

French President Emmanuel Macron, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen, European Investment Bank President Werner Hoyer and Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olga Stefanishyna are just a few of the resounding names among the 160 speakers. President Zuzana Čaputová will open the conference and the last panel will be addressed by the Prime Ministers of Croatia, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Much of the debate will focus on the ongoing support for Ukraine - how to approach the country's post-war reconstruction, how much the conflict is affecting basic infrastructure, how to prosecute war crimes committed by Putin's regime, how the European Union can help, and what Ukraine's future in Euro-Atlantic structures looks like.

As the SME daily wrote, Globsec is no longer just a security conference where political leaders come to shake hands. Behind closed doors, leaders agree on common approaches in the fields of technology, economy, health and sustainability. In Bratislava, decisions will be taken on truly global issues.
