Convict tries to hide from a SWAT unit in wardrobe

A 30-year-old convict from Dolné Vestenice (Trenčín region) during a raid on his flat on Tuesday attempted to hide from a SWAT unit in a wardrobe – but to no avail. The man, identified only as Bystrík S., has been sentenced to 22 years in prison for an abduction connected to extortion.

However, the sentence still hasn’t entered into force as Bystrík appealed. Meanwhile, a regional court judge released a warrant to take him into custody – that’s why the SWAT commando came to pick him up. Bystrík and a few companions – pretending to be police officers – kidnapped an entrepreneur from Topoľčany (Nitra region) and demanded several million of the then currency, the Slovak crown, in exchange for the hostage back in 2008. His companions had already been detained in the meantime.
