Hlas-SD: real danger we'll lose €877 mn from Recovery Plan

The recovery plan is a unique package of money and Slovakia should do its best to use these European funds, however, Eduard Heger's government made one mistake after another in this area from the beginning, and there is a real danger that Slovakia won't use €877 million allocated from the plan for projects in the field of health care, head of the extra-parliamentary Hlas-SD party Peter Pellegrini said at a press conference on Monday. According to the party, €281 million for the new Razsochy hospital in Bratislava, €330 million for the new hospital in Martin, €212 million for the reconstruction of regional hospitals and €54 million for emergency medical service stations and vehicles are at risk. In their current state, these projects can't be completed by 2026, when the recovery plan ends.

"As of today, it must be said that the funds from the recovery plan won't be used to pay for the Razsochy [hospital], Martin [hospital], there will be no ambulances. Everything even heads toward no reconstructions, whether large or small, of regional hospitals. They still haven't been evaluated. And there won't be dozens of new ambulances in regions that haven't yet signed up for this project," said Hlas-SD vice-chair Zuzana Dolinkova. In this context, they called on new Prime Minister Ludovit Odor and Health Minister Michal Palkovic to publish the allegedly existing alternative plan on how to use the European money intended for the Slovak health sector.
