Ensuring proper parliamentary elections and combating disinformation are among the priorities of the new Interior Minister, Ivan Simko. He also wants to continue cleaning up public life. These issues will be reflected in the government's programme statement and draft budget. He made the announcement after a meeting with Prime Minister Ludovit Odor at the ministry's headquarters. He did not announce the dismissal of Police President Stefan Hamran. The prime minister stressed the importance of the ministry in light of ongoing investigations into sensitive cases.
"That is why, when we chose people for the cabinet together with the president, we made sure that it was an experienced person who has been here before and is not in a political battle," he explained. Both government officials described the preparation for the general elections as an important task for the ministry. "We will do everything possible to ensure that the elections are scandal-free, as they have been in the past, without anyone being able to question the results," said the Prime Minister. The minister described the first meeting with the police chief as open. Both, he said, were interested in continuing to clean up public life. "Of course, everything must be done in accordance with the law and with appropriate means," he noted. According to Simko, Hamran is a man who understands the police.
