Drawing of EU Funds to be more efficient, says PM Odor

New Prime Minister Ludovit Odor visited the Ministry of Investment, Regional Development and Informatisation on Tuesday and met with new Minister Peter Balik and Vice-premier Livia Vasakova to discuss options for speeding up the drawing of EU Funds.

"We'll try to figure out ways not only to make the drawing of these resources for Slovakia quicker, more fluent and to the benefit of the people, but also wish to do something about the EU Funds that have been left here from the past," said Odor, adding that the cabinet must also start the new programming period.

Vice-Premier Vasakova will not only be in charge of the Recovery Plan implementation as before, but see her responsibilities extended also to the EU Funds. Vasakova added that this is an issue of crucial importance for the cabinet.

Also on Tuesday Odor visited the Agriculture Ministry and after discussions with new the new minister said that Food prices in Slovakia must be addressed throughout the entire agriculture-food chain, so the Agriculture Ministry is planning to organise a so-called broad round table for the chain from farmer to store with the participation of other ministries as well; for example the Finance Ministry.

"It was an initial meeting today, there wasn't much time to take specific steps. We agreed that one of the best solutions would be to have a constructive dialogue with everyone in the chain from cultivation to retail consumption," said Odor following his visit, adding that in the coming weeks he doesn't expect food products to record such a dynamic increase in prices as to date.
