Last year doctors registered 1,055 cases of sexually transmitted diseases (STD) in Slovakia, amounting to a year-on-year drop of 7 percent, according to data from the National Centre for Medical Information (NCZI).
"The improvement is mostly due to decreases in the number of patients suffering from syphilis. The only exception to this trend is in gonococcal infections - i.e. gonorrhoea. Mostly men were diagnosed with sexual transmitted diseases”, said Centre’s spokesperson Peter Bubla.
