As of Monday (15 May), wearing a respirator is no longer compulsory in hospitals, doctors' surgeries, social service homes or pharmacies. This follows from the decree of the Public Health Office, which lifted this obligation. However, the chief hygienist Jan Mikas still recommends covering the upper respiratory in these areas, since vulnerable groups of people - people with acute or chronic diseases, immunocompromised persons, pregnant women or the elderly - are located there. Wearing a face shield or respirator is also recommended by experts in crowded interiors or public transport vehicles, also at outdoor mass events. Hygienists also urge thorough hand washing, which protects against many infectious diseases.
