The 87th IIHF World Ice Hockey Championship starts in Tampere, Finland, and Riga, Latvia, on Friday. Craig Ramsay's men will kick off the championship on Friday in a match against the Czech Republic. Marek Hrivík will captain the Slovak national hockey team. His assistants will be Peter Cehlárik and Matúš Sukeľ. The coaching staff of the national team is waiting for the official confirmation of the arrival of defenseman Simon Nemec, who is available for the national team after the New Jersey Devils dropped out of the NHL playoffs.
