Kacer quit Democrats, won't run in snap election

Outgoing Foreign Affairs Minister Rastislav Kacer has confirmed for TASR that he quit the extra-parliamentary 'Democrats' party already on May 1. At the same time he said that he won't run in the September snap election for any party.

"I won't run for any party. I didn't mean to do so at the time when the 'Democrats' party was announced, either. I won't run or apply for any international post," Kacer has told TASR.

The 'Democrats' party was introduced in early March. Its leader is interim Premier Eduard Heger. Kacer was at that time presented as a member of Democrats' presidium.

Kacer decided to ask President Zuzana Caputova to revoke his credentials, the President's Office confirmed for TASR on Friday (May 5). It happened a day after interim Agriculture Minister Samuel Vlcan decided to resign from his post.
