Development Plan for Slovakia's Defence until 2035 approved

Parliament approved on Thursday a long-term plan for the development of support for Slovakia's defence. The plan for the development of support for state defence, until the end of 2035 gives priority to the creation of stocks within the Defence Ministry and supplementing them with material reserves in the State Material Reserves Administration, maintaining the number of beds for military needs in medical facilities, ensuring military mobility in Slovak territory and completing the infrastructure of the state defence control centre with a classified connection according to the current NATO and EU security standards.

"The long-term plan updates the long-term requirements and priorities of the Slovak Armed Forces for the development of state defence support," said the author, adding that in addition to the Defence Ministry, support for state defence is provided by other ministries, other central state administration bodies and other state administration bodies with nationwide scope.

The plan for the maintenance and development of the defence infrastructure also includes gradually increasing the energy efficiency of the state defence control headquarters. The plan also includes the goal of ensuring the defence infrastructure for the permanent operation of NATO units in Slovakia by 2024.

As many as 7,095 beds for comprehensive health care should be provided for the needs of the Defence Ministry by 2024. Another proposed measure is to check the ability to draw up a state war budget via an exercise by 2024 and to implement corrective measures based on the conclusions by 2026.
