Interim Foreign Minister Rastislav Kacer held talks with the French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna in Paris on Thursday. The ministers evaluated Slovak-French bilateral relations 30 years after they were established, and talked about the possibilities of developing cooperation, European strategic autonomy and Russian aggression against Ukraine.
"We're interested in closer cooperation in the green economy, industry, trade and research, but above all in the energy sector with an emphasis on strengthening the role of nuclear energy in achieving energy security in Europe. This need stems from the efforts to jointly build European strategic autonomy, on the one hand in the field of economic security, as well as in defence capability," said Kacer.
The head of Slovak diplomacy also stressed the need to continue political, humanitarian, economic and military support for Ukraine, which is one of the symbols of cooperation between member countries of the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance. He praised France's contribution to helping Ukraine in its struggle for independence and territorial integrity.
Kacer also held talks in Paris with French president's diplomatic adviser Emmanuel Bonne. They discussed the strategic partnership between Slovakia and France, the EU enlargement policy and also addressed the issue of building the French project of the European Political Community as a tool for strengthening relations with neighbouring states and strengthening European identity.
