A new parking area with two parking spaces for tactical transport aircraft is to be built at the Sliac airbase. The government approved the start of the construction procurement on Wednesday (May 3). The so-called staging area should be adapted for parking and handling two tactical transport aircrafts. According to Defence Minister Jaroslav Nad, this is part of a larger reconstruction - modernisation of the Sliac airport, which should improve the functioning of Slovakia's cooperation with NATO forces. It should be carried out as a NATO Security Investment Programme project. Of the 6.5 million EUR that is the estimated cost, Slovakia should pay about one million. The rest should be paid by NATO from its investment programme.
