A total of 10,501 pupils from Ukraine attend Slovak schools. This stems from data on the number of refugees from Ukraine as of March 31, 2023, published by the Education Ministry on its website. According to the data, the highest number of pupils (7,121) attend elementary schools. The highest portion of Ukrainian pupils attend schools in the Bratislava region (2,331), while elementary schools in other regions are attended by less than 1,000 Ukrainian students. The lowest number of Ukrainian pupils (453) study at elementary schools in the Banska Bystrica region.
Slovak nursery schools are attended by 1,787 children from Ukraine. The highest number of them was reported in Bratislava region (542), while the lowest number is in Banska Bystrica region (136).
Grammar schools are attended by up to 500 students from Ukraine, with the highest number of them attending schools in Bratislava region (172) and the lowest number in Trnava region (29). Secondary vocational schools are attended by 829 Ukrainians. Their number ranges between 41 in the Banska Bystrica region and 264 in the Bratislava region.
In general, the largest number of Ukrainian students attended schools in the Bratislava region in late March (3,399). Conversely, the lowest number of Ukrainian pupils studied in the Banska Bystrica region (691).
