Slovak players will meet their US opponents in the Saturday semi-finals of the Under 18 World Ice Hockey Championship in Basel, Switzerland. The Slovaks advanced to the semi-finals after beating the favoured Finland 3:2 in Porrentruy. Slovakia advanced among the top four teams in this age category for the first time since 2003. After four goals against Germany and three points against Finland, Dalibor Dvorský, who will be an NHL draft pick this year, is considered one of the most valuable players of the team.
