At its session on Wednesday, the Government approved an update to the national recovery plan, including a new chapter called 'REPowerEU', which concerns green matters. The aim of the new chapter, according to interim Premier Eduard Heger, is to reduce Slovakia's dependence on Russian fossil fuels and tackle the climate crisis. REPowerEU includes a total of six reforms and eight investments amounting to €403 million. These will concern four areas, namely energy and permitting processes, the renovation and administration of buildings, sustainable transport, and developing green skills. The main purpose of these measures is to save energy, promote a faster uptake of renewable energy sources and diversify energy supply.
