The police are investigating issues in the Slovenske Elektrarne (SE) electricity producer from before the privatisation of 66 percent of its shares by Italian company Enel was completed in April 2006, SE spokesperson Jana Burdova stated. Burdova said that SE managers and other staff on Thursday were providing all necessary assistance to the police officers, who were still securing documents from SE's offices.
The Economy Ministry, which holds the remaining SE shares via the National Property Fund (FNM), earlier reported that the police investigation is aimed at the privatisation in 2006."Since June 30 a criminal investigation has been carried out on the suspicion of two offences - a breach of duty regarding the management of property and the misrepresentation of business records," said Police Corps president Tibor Gaspar on Wednesday, when the police operation began. He added that certain documents and data were necessary in order to deal with these suspicions." Based on this assessment and further actions, we'll be able to speak about progress in the investigation," said Gaspar.
