Environmental police officers from the Žilina department detained three citizens of the Czech Republic who were transporting an illegally-caught female brown bear in their motor vehicle, the police reported on a social network. "On the basis of the facts found so far, a criminal prosecution has been initiated for the crime of violating the protection of plants and animals," wrote the police. If proven guilty, the perpetrators face a prison sentence of up to five years. The police added that they are working on the case and that it is not possible to provide further details at the moment.
