President recalls rector of Academy of Police Force

President Zuzana Caputova has recalled Lucia Kurilovska from the post of the rector of the Academy of the Police Force in Bratislava. Interim Interior Minister Roman Mikulec suggested dismissing
Kurilovska following the case of a shot student. The incident took place on 1 March in the premises of the shooting polygon of the Police Academy in Bratislava. The student was taken to hospital with
injuries. The police charged the coach Vladimír Š. with the criminal offence of negligent bodily harm.
The staff of the Academy expressed their full support to Kurilova asking the President to reconsider the reason for her dismissal and not to accept the Interior Minister's proposal. The Rector was also
supported by the management of the Faculty of Law of Comenius University in Bratislava and the Academic Senate of the University.
