President Kiska discussed Ukraine crisis in Germany

The situation in Ukraine dominated Wednesday's visit of Slovak President Andrej Kiska to Berlin. The President completed his string of first five foreign visits by coming to Germany, where he was received by his German counterpart Joachim Gauck. The two politicians discussed sterner sanctions against Russia, which Kiska claims should take effect in the following days.

Aside from foreign affairs, the two presidents also discussed options for further co-operation between Germany and Slovakia in dual education and support for the creation of new jobs in Slovakia. In Germany, the Slovak President also met with the mayor of Berlin and paid a visit to the Berlin Wall monument as the first Slovak President ever to do so and thus commemorated fallen Germans attempting to pass through the Iron Curtain from the former East Germany to the former West Germany.
