On Wednesday, the police raided Slovenske Elektrarne, the Slovak dominant power producer as a part of an investigation into the crime of violation of duties in the management and of misrepresenting financial and commercial records. The Police launched the investigation at the end of June of this year.
“In this context, it was necessary to seize documentation and other evidence. It is not possible to provide more detailed information,” stated spokesman for the Presidium of the Police Corps. The Economy Ministry, which executes shareholder rights related to the 34-percent stake in Slovenske Elektrarne confirmed the fact that the police were at the company. Slovenske Elektrarne is the largest power producer in Slovakia. In April 2006, the Italian energy giant Enel became its main shareholder with a 66-percent stake. The remaining 34 percent is in the hands of the National Property Fund, while the Finance Ministry executes the shareholder rights.
