Local elections are coming up in Slovakia – in November. If the election of the new Bratislava mayor was held this weekend, Milan Knazko would be the winner, with almost 36 percent of the votes. However, it would be a tight race with the incumbent Bratislava mayor Milan Ftacnik, who would gather a little over 34 percent of the votes.
All the Slovak media are slowly starting to focus on this race as Milan Ftacnik is starting to collect signatures from the public towards his bid for re-election as a civic candidate. Apart from Ftacnik, Bratislava councillor Ivo Nesrovnal, representing the SDKU-DS party and the unsuccessful presidential candidate Milan Knazko have so far made their interest in the competition and the post official.
