Interim Minister of Economy Karel Hirman met on Monday with the project managers of the new Volvo Cars Slovakia plant in Valaliky near Košice. They informed him about the current state of preparations for the industrial park in Valaliky and about Volvo's update of the plant construction project. In this context, an addendum to the contract is being prepared to clarify the details.
Both sides noted that the work so far has been successful and that both sides are cooperating closely in the implementation of the project. Miloš Durec, head of the state company Valaliky Industry Park, which is implementing the construction of the Valaliky Industrial Park, also informed the Minister about the status of the works and the next plans and milestones to be fulfilled in accordance with the contract with Volvo. In this context, a joint meeting of several ministries and state institutions is being planned and prepared for April in order to better coordinate and prepare the necessary work and subsequent decisions.
Minister Karel Hirman also visited the KIA production plant near Žilina. He informed the company's management, headed by KIA Slovakia's President and Managing Director, Mr Geon Won Shin, about the Slovak government's measures in the field of energy. "I can assure you that KIA and all other factories in Slovakia have sufficient sources of electricity and gas for their production," Minister Hirman assured the KIA management. They also discussed further innovative developments in the automotive sector towards e-mobility and the introduction of new technologies that fundamentally change the nature of everyday car use.
